Freshping Discord Integration Alternative: Get Discord Alerts Working Again

5 min read

Freshping shut down on March 6, 2026, and took its Discord integration with it. If your Freshping Discord integration was wired up to your team channel, those alerts have been silent ever since. This guide sets up a drop-in replacement in five minutes, on a free plan, with real screenshots of every step.

Here is what the end result looks like. A real Velprove alert landing in a real Discord channel, complete with a screenshot of the broken login page that triggered it.

A real Velprove browser login monitor alert in a Discord channel. The message shows a [DOWN] Velprove Login title, status fields including response time and region, the error message, and an embedded screenshot of the broken login page.

One note on timing. If you have not exported your Freshping data yet, you have until June 4, 2026 before it gets permanently deleted.

Why Your Freshping Discord Integration Mattered

Email alerts get buried. Slack alerts cost money once your team grows past the free tier. Discord sits in the sweet spot: free, persistent, and already open on your team's second monitor. A downtime alert that pings a dedicated channel gets eyes on it immediately, and the history stays searchable without paying anyone. That is why the Freshping Discord integration was so useful, and why losing it hurt.

Velprove's Discord integration uses standard Discord webhooks. No bot install, no OAuth dance, no permission sprawl. You paste a URL into Velprove, Velprove posts alerts to that URL, Discord renders them as messages in your channel. That is the entire architecture.

How do you set up a Discord webhook for uptime monitoring?

To set up a Discord webhook for uptime monitoring, open your Discord channel settings, go to Integrations, click New Webhook, copy the webhook URL, then paste that URL into your monitoring tool's Discord notification settings. Most tools, including Velprove, will fire a test alert so you can confirm it works before attaching it to your monitors. The whole process takes about five minutes.

The 5-Minute Setup

Step 1: Create your free Velprove account

Go to velprove.com/signup. No credit card, no phone number, no trial period. You will be in the dashboard in under a minute.

Once you land in the dashboard, you will see the overview of all your monitors. It looks like this.

Step 2: Open Settings, then Notifications

From the dashboard sidebar, click Settings. Scroll down to the Notifications section. This is where all your alert channels live: email, Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, generic webhooks, and PagerDuty.

Step 3: Create a Discord webhook

Switch over to Discord for a moment. Pick the channel you want alerts to land in, then follow this path:

  1. Right-click the channel, choose Edit Channel.
  2. Open Integrations in the left sidebar.
  3. Click Webhooks, then New Webhook.
  4. Give it a name like Velprove Alerts, optionally set an avatar, then click Copy Webhook URL.

Treat this URL like a password. Anyone who has it can post messages to your channel. Do not commit it to git, do not paste it in public issues, do not share it in screenshots. Velprove stores it encrypted at rest.

Step 4: Paste the URL into Velprove

Back in Velprove, find the Discord Webhook URL field under Notifications. The empty state looks like this.

Paste the webhook URL you copied from Discord. The input validates the format as you type, so you will know right away if something is off.

Step 5: Fire a test alert

Next to the Discord input, there is a Test button. Click it. Velprove fires a test alert through the webhook immediately, and you should see a message land in your Discord channel within a second or two.

If the test alert shows up in Discord, you are done with the integration. Save your settings and move on to attaching alerts to your monitors.

Step 6: Attach Discord alerts to your monitors

Every monitor in Velprove has its own alert channel list. Go to your monitor, open its configuration, and check the Discord channel in the alert settings. From that moment on, any downtime or recovery event on that monitor posts to your Discord channel.

You can attach Discord to all your monitors or just the ones that matter most. Most teams start with their production website and API, then add more as they get comfortable.

What You Actually Get

Velprove is not just Freshping with a Discord integration bolted on. The free plan includes a few things that you will not find on any other free monitoring tool.

The big one is browser login monitors. Velprove launches a real Chromium browser behind the scenes, navigates to your login page, fills in test credentials, clicks submit, and verifies that authentication actually works. If your WordPress admin, your WHMCS portal, or your custom SaaS login silently breaks because of a plugin update or a bad deploy, Velprove catches it. Freshping could not do this. Nobody on the free tier of any competitor can do this. We made it free because we think it should be standard.

The free plan also gives you monitoring from five global regions, a public status page for your users, SSL certificate expiry monitoring, multi-step API monitors, and all the alert channels including the Discord setup you just configured.

More on that in our main Freshping alternatives guide, and a step-by-step migration walkthrough in the Freshping shutdown migration guide.

Common Issues

The test alert never arrives.Double-check that the webhook URL you pasted is complete, including the token after the final slash. Discord webhook URLs are long. If you copied only part of it, the request will 401. Also confirm the channel still exists and the webhook has not been deleted in Discord's integration settings.

Alerts arrive, but only for email. Make sure you attached the Discord channel to the monitor itself, not just to your account settings. Account settings register the webhook. Monitor configuration decides which channels that monitor uses.

The webhook leaks into a public repo. Regenerate it immediately. Go back to the Discord integration settings, delete the old webhook, create a new one, and paste the fresh URL into Velprove. Discord webhooks are public credentials the moment they leave your control.

FAQ

Is Discord alerting free on Velprove?

Yes. Discord webhook alerts are included on every Velprove plan, including the free plan. There is no upgrade required and no credit card needed to set up Discord notifications for your monitors.

Can I send alerts to multiple Discord channels?

Yes. You can configure one Discord webhook per account, and Discord webhook URLs can target any channel in your server. If you need alerts in multiple channels, create multiple webhooks in Discord and route different monitors to different webhook URLs in your monitor configuration.

Does Velprove support Slack, email, and PagerDuty too?

Yes. Velprove supports email, Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty, and generic webhooks out of the box. You can mix and match channels per monitor. Email is always on by default so you never miss a critical alert.

Will I lose my Freshping monitor history when I migrate?

Freshping's historical uptime data will be permanently deleted on June 4, 2026. Export anything you want to keep before that date. Velprove starts collecting new uptime history from the moment you create your monitors, so the sooner you migrate, the more continuous your historical record will be.
